Historic Pine Forest Cemetery’s private events program is often a visitors’ first introduction to Pine Forest Cemetery’s beautiful and historic acres. it might seem strange, at first, to hang out in a cemetery, but recreatioin in cemeteries is nothing new.  Picturesque cemeteries like Pine Forest were designed as public spaces, and in the second half of the 19th century, city dwellers visited them when they needed to get away from the hustle and bustle.  They were popular spots for picnics, walks, and more.  Our new private events program reflects the notion of a cemetery as a public park and supports our mission to maintain Pine Forest as a sanctuary for history, education, inspiratioin, and recreation.
